valerius' beginnings are not typical for a viera.arjm and petra wanted a new life in eorzea, tired of vieran traditions and a bloodline that burned everything in its wake. the pair left the forest with their year-old kit in tow, who was born vsera lesrekta. they did not make it. arjm died protecting them from a beast, and petra carried the child to the edge of civilization. she was determined to keep her baby safe. and she succeeded, passing vsera off to a sweet lady claiming to know of an orphanage in limsa lominsa at a port in kugane. the hingan city was her resting place.meanwhile, house rousseau, in ishgard, was in need of an heir and the head did not seem able to produce one. once she divorced her husband and adopted her new child, a vieran kit, it was love at first sight. not everyone felt the same way. she'd make sure that their opinions never mattered.one day, outside of the city, this child (who had been re-named odette rousseau) met a duskwight boy around the same age. the lad told her all about the stars, plants, chocobos--and odette was absolutely enthralled. from there on, they would become the best of friends. the boy, antoinaut, would teach odette to love the world around her. and in turn, odette would grow to love him with her entire heart.after the surprising birth of her little brother, odette made an effort to stay on top of her studies while being the best older sibling she could be and becoming a third caretaker to the child.as she grew older, discovered that she was not odette, and decided he would be known as valerius from here on. his family reacted accordingly, supporting his decisions. however, due to his hatred of high society, at 18 he set out to ul'dah's alchemist's guild to do what was necessary to have the form he yearned for. valerius proceeded to work as an adventurer throughout eorzea.he has amicably removed himself from his role as heir of house rousseau. his brother will take up the mantle. let it be known this was his own decision--his family's naysayers had no impact. freedom was always the goal.
